“I’m glad I got to be a part of a community that supports people while not holding their past mistakes against them and works with us despite our struggles. I met a lot of amazing people that I continue friendships with and who support me. It has opened my eyes to finding out what I love doing which is helping people and I hope to come back and continue supporting people who are in a position I once was in. “

“I was in a foster home previous to joining the village and I had the feeling not only internally but from the family that it was time to move on. Coming into the village has been really cool. It took time for me to get comfortable and at first I wasn’t totally sold but now it’s a decision I’m very thankful I made. I have love for all of my neighbors and I’m getting to know really cool people and learn from them. I am continuing to feel comfortable with staff and opening up but as time goes on it becomes easier. Since entering the village I’ve become more open to trying new things and looking for new experiences.”

“Coming into the village has given me the safety and security that I really needed.”

“I was at The Place and before that homeless in a really bad situation before coming into the village. Coming into the village has given me the safety and security that I really needed. Having my own space has also been really nice because I’m able to make things look cute and nice. I think I have grown a lot with therapy even though it’s hard at times I think I’m still moving forward and getting better.”

“It has changed the trajectory of where my life was going or heading to.”

“You all have done a lot and helped a lot. It has changed the trajectory of where my life was going or heading to. Living in the village has helped me by talking to Jill in therapy and having support. It takes a lot of stress and weight off your shoulders. It gives you some sense of security.”

“Being back in the village has been a major support. In general, the staff and community is very supportive. It’s refreshing. When I was out, there was a lot going on in my head and when I got back into the village I was able to dial it back in and focus on what I need to get done. As far as being safe, in a situational sense, I guess and for the most part I feel safe. Mental health wise it has been really good for me to focus and block out outside noise. Before I came here there was always something going on and sometimes I get days of nothingness in the village and it really helps me slow down and settle.”

“It has given me a lot of confidence and that I’m capable of doing a lot more than I thought I could.  I’m never worried or scared when I’m at home.”

“It’s meant a lot, the independence and the community piece are big. It is nice to still have your own space though. I recently started building my credit with a credit card because of one of the life skills classes. It gives me a higher chance for success out in the real world when I move out because of all of the resources I have here. It has given me a lot of confidence and that I’m capable of doing a lot more than I thought I could. It has helped me open up a lot and ask/accept help when I need it. You all take our safety very seriously and are on top of anything that happens. I’m never worried or scared when I’m at home.”
